Does the Hornady .243cal 105 AMax expand on PD?

Well, Ive decided to go with the 6x47Lapua case shooting a high .500BC rated .243 bullet for my 450-700 yard PD rifle. I've got to try and decide which bullet to go with so I can know the proper barrel twist to order. Seems like an 8 or 9 twist is preferred for a 105.....while a 1-10 twist is better suited for an 87 grain bullet.

I like the ballistics of the 105Amax for my proposed 450-700 yard shooting because of it's high .500BC. When compared to the 87grain Vmax, it actually shoots faster at 500-700 yards, but hits a lot harder because of its heavier weight. It also has almost identical trajectory as the 87Vmax, but better wind handling qualities.

But, does it expand good enough for PD is the question?

105 Berger VLD

May be a better long range bullet, will the 105AMAX or 105 VLD expand on a PD?? I wouldn’t want to be the PD testing that theory ;) I bet either bullet will kill just fine. When you purchase your barrel, 8 twist is the only way to fly for the weight range we speak of though, IMHO that is. I've had three 8 twist 6mm barrels in less than a year, all love the 105-107 grain bullets. The barrels have been on 2-6BR's and one 6XC.

Coyotes hate the 105 berger VLD's, one told me so :D:D:D

Moderator,

Ooops....I've been bouncing around so much today using the search, that I thought I was in the factory/hybrid forum.

You may close it with a "moved" if you desire.
