Hello guys, I am new in sniping...

I would like to develope a good round for my blaser R93 lrs2 .300WM with twist rate 1/11.

How to start, which bullet weight to use and how to find out the right seating depth...

Also, should I use large rifle or large rifle magnum primers?

About the powder I have decided to use the vihtavuori n165...

How should I start?

Trasman,

How far do you want to shoot? Your 11" twist barrel will handle bullets up to 210 VLD and 220 boat tail types. Optimum seating depth must be determined with testing of your rifle and bullet combo. Standard large rifle primers work fine in large magnums unless temperatures drop or you choose spherical powder. VV 165 is a good choice for large mags with heavy bullets as are RL 22 and 25, 4831, 7828, H1000, MRP and other slow powders. H4350 is a faster powder than most folks would most folks would choose but Bob Rosen shoots it in his 300 Win Mags with 210gr Clinch River bullets and he won the 2009 IBS 1000 yd Shooter of the Year award with that combo. There is a very wide range of good answers to your questions.

Greg,

thank you very much. I would like to shoot up to 700y, I would like to try 210 and 190 sierra hpbt, what is better for this twist?

Trazman,

The 210 is more optimum for 11 twist. The 190 might be considered optimum at 12. But stability has soft edges until you fall over the edge with too little at your density altitude and the bullet becomes unstable.

"Too much" twist costs very little accuracy or potential velocity with good bullets which are all you want to shoot anyway. At 700 yards I wouldn't predict which choice of the two you will find most satisfying. I don't have any personal experience with 190gr bullets but if I were shooting a 300 Mag for 600 BR or the 700 yds you specify I would want to try them as an alternative to the 210's I shoot at 1K.

Try them both. It will only cost you a box of bullets.

Ok, I will consider this...

And how to start reloading? First reload some ammo, lets say 5 wit 76gn then 5 with 76,5gn up to 78gn... and use that ones with better speed differences an than searching the OAL? Or what you suggests?

Is H-4350 readily available on the European continent? Seems the man will prefer his locally available VV powders....... N165 is a fine choice.

trazman, I'll suggest you begin by seating your bullets as long as will function through the magazine and if these are hitting the rifling lands (TOO long) then you can shorten them. The two maximum parameters are, magazine length and distance to the rifling lands.

After finding maximum length you can proceed with powder charge and primer adjustments. I will suggest you keep an open mind re primer choice. There are no 'rules' here and primers can be a significant accuracy aid.

KEEP LOTS OF NOTES!!!!! Write EVERYTHING down.

I would only begin to vary seating depth if nothing else gives satisfactory results.

My first thought is if you are a sniper, the ammo is furnished. Unless you want to get into a scrap with the Slovinian equivalent of a Sargent, shoot what you're given.

If you want to learn about precision reloading anyway, get a couple of good books. It is too large a subject to get comprehensive answers on an internet message board. To many "Oh, and I forgot to mention . . ."

Sinclair International had a good book. Maybe it is still in print, or you could get a used copy. There is a loading book offered by Precision Shooting as well, entitled The Precision Shooting Loading guide.
