Denton "Texas Showdown" June 5th & 6th Come 1 come all

Doug Penttinen

"TESTED TEXAS TUFF"
Hey Jon
Is there a fee for practicing on Friday the 4th for the Denton match....

Another question
What ever happened to I think it was Mr. T's or Mr. G's Tee shirts ??? He used to make screen printed shirts and sell them at the Denton matches... Guess nobody is doing that anymore...

Doug,
Fridays practice day will be no charge.
As far as the T’s, I had planned to get something together but there’s a lot of red tape to go through with our club and it’s just not worth it. Our clubs board is 100% behind Benchrest at Denton but it’s not just my decision on how to spend money..

Hey, I was just having a smoke when the methane bubble hit.

This weeks Denton shoot will be sponsored by BP. BP executives will blend into the crowd in baggy-assed pants and stained, 2XL t-shirts. Periodically they will spray the line with heavy crude from hand held super soakers. If confronted about this they will summon forth federal government officials who will run around the benches in circles and blame George Bush. The match cost will be $100.00 for the shoot and 1.2 trillion for the cleanup. See you there. Tim

Thanks Mr. Conley
I just noticed your signature as "Conleys Custom Bulletts" Hmmmmm when did this start ?? Are they on the market yet ??

As far as the T-shirts, Thats a shame because as for one I like to get those shirts. It's one of the things that goes along with Bench Rest...Even though I have a closet full they all have meaning to the sport in which we par-take and spend our $$.

As far as BP mulling around I will say for sure that I don't want them to help me set my flaggs..

See everybody at the range...

Hey Doug
Where's Denton? I'm a thousand miles to Midland where I met you at the 2001 NBRSA Nats. Still owe you that case of beer, Lone Star or what local branch water? Don't remember what the bet I lost was but hey least I remembered the Bet. Is this Stiller's Range, and who is the big bubbah he works with, shoots with, rides with. I met those two at the St Louis Nats a while ago. When Jerry and his bud figured out who I was from BRC they glared at me for a minute. Then we all broke out laughing shared a loading bench for the Nats and had a regular old Nationals hoot all week, don't remember much about the shooting. Doug, being an engineer myself and Jerry one I like the drop port, not sure of actions but I would like one on one of my rail guns. Feed, Shoot, Drop. Over and over without a hitch, thats for me. Be seeing you all at least at the 2011 Midland Nats. God bless Texas and God bless Texas BR.

*August 14th & 15th NBRSA-Hotter’N Hell Gulf Coast Region LV-SP, 100-200

It’s still in August and it’s still hot..

Hey Stephan
Denton Texas is about another 400 miles and it is about 35 miles North of Dallas up I-35-E... One tuff place to shoot>>>>>. Yes Mr. Stiller still hangs out up there but he has been pretty busy of late. Hope to see him at this shoot with his partner in crime Curtis.
Not sure how many will attend this match since the SS is just got over but I hope we have a good turn out.

As Jon answered we still have the Hotter-Than-Hell match and it will be HOT... It has been pretty warm to date, staying in the mid to upper 90's....

I don't remember the bet but a case of DOS EQUIS beer will do just fine.... And raise a toast to the Great state of Texas, BR and our GCR shooters....

This is a Disclaimer for those that think they can get my hide, they will be hurting after they try and fail, especially from what I am about to say.

Most of the foreward thinking developments in benchrest come from the Texas BR shooters. There is at least one Texan I could do without but that's for another day. I love Texas BR and I don't live there. I like the swagger of the shooters, Shilen barrels, Jewell triggers, Jackies BS on BRC, the rail gun challenge, Stiller actions, the Texas Championships, the lizard and horn toad shoots, the Buffalo Shoot, the Midland Nats, the Gulf Coast Schedule, the late Harold Broughton, the drink mixer, Dr Tim when you need one, don't care for that Houston Warehouse scam, and the late Jeff Fowler when he ruled benchrest while living and doing his shooting supply buiness in Texas.

All the Regions of NBRSA have their uniqueness but Gulf Coast has a swagger that can't be copied anywhere, hear that Geraci. God bless Texas. God bless Benchrest.
Done.

Well
Even for those of us that are transplants to the state of Texas you gotta love the place...I moved to Texas about 30 years ago from the great NE. Erie, Pa to be exact. I moved away once and should-a had my butt kicked. Came back and have been here ever since. Got married in 86 and still going strong....
There is nothing else like BR shooting other than going hunting or fishing in our big state. You are right about Texas, alot of great shooters, tools, guns and good people. But as you know that is everywhere and not just Texas...We of the ones who shoot BR love the get togethers, the challange of shooting small groups. But one thing stands TRUE as my good friend Glenn Chism mentioned at a match... If you are having a get together at your house or you have people there you want to leave, just start talking Bench Rest.... The cars will be headed in all directions. This is so true because there are so few people that understand what we do on our weekends let alone want to hear about it.
That is why all the matches and shoots should be so important to all of us. Our circle is smaller than one thinks but it is a great circle and I'm proud to be a small part of it as we all should. So keep burning powder and buying bullets

Looking forward to the Midland Nats again next year, save me some of that pie. Great facilities at Midland.
