hi everybody,

Im new in benchrest shooting and i found your forum and i thougt it can very help me. I come from Ormstown in Quebec, Canada. Im now in a gunsmithing school, i hope this will be my future job:D I think i can really learn a lot on your forum. And im french so im really sorry if my english is bad.....:(

All my guns: -remington 700 cdl sf 7mm magnum
-remington genesis 50caliber
- 2 remington 870
-remington 597
-savage model 93 17hmr
- and in my course i am building a 375H&H with a montana action and a Mcmillan 26inches barrel, and i didn't remember my stock model but the laminated wood is really cheap.....

Ho yeah,and i am 18 years old.

See you later guys!!

that's the gun i am building at school, 375H&H. You just have to imagine the action and barrel in black cause i need to "bleuing" it.

good to see new gunsmiths in training...

...ole' Blue looks just about ready to bed.....will that be a hunting/long range combo ....Im guessin you are the one with glasses on...the other fellow looks yournger than 18....good luk to you....and OBTW..nuthin wrong with your english...I am from WV and my english aint too good either..ahahha...Roger

I'd make that stock..........

about six inches shorter, then when that little guy carried it to where you've encountered THE lifetime trophy, I'd have him aim the gun at the (insert favorite trophy of the LIFETIME here), and i'd pull him into MY shoulder like a giant recoil pad :rolleyes:; Then I'd torch her off. BOOM!! but no pain, that's how hunting w/a .375 SHOULD be, MAXimum effect, but NO pain. ;) HEY!! Why don't you just chamber it for .378?? but use the same guy. :D:D
Welcome to the site, you'll have a WILD ride!!;)

:D i look younger than 18:D im the little boys at right:p

Yes its gonna be a long range and hunting combo, i will use it for moose and black bear hunting. Im now doing the bedding on my stock. Hope that everything will be alright so i can shoot with it in 2 weeks!!!:D

Deeramator,

Pay them no attention, most of them are so old that everyone under 50 looks like a kid to them!:D If you could invent a bench gun that dispenses prunes you will be the most successful gunsmith in history!:p

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your new career!

thank you for all your comments, looks like a friendly forum, i think i will learn a lot from you guys.

Thank you again!!

Naahhhhhhh, I'm with Shankle.....These guys are just OLD and don't know it yet!!!! :D They figger your TEACHER is 18!

GOOD ON YA Deeramator! I went to Gunsmithing School too. Lotsa' Brownell's and PO Ackley ;) Good looking school project BTW, mine were "cheaper"..... rusted out old Mausers and Springfields and Enfields stuffed into reject Cali'co wood.......

Remember, fit the recoil pad BEFORE you finish the wood

yes! im now at the point to fit the recoil pad, after that i will polish my action and barrel at 600 and i will finish the stock.

Hey, NO WASHED OUT LETTERING!!! And no rounded edges, and NO RIPPLES in the barrel. When you look down the length of the barrel by a light and slowly rotate it I want it to be STRAIGHT, no wobbles......

BACK your sandpaper...

NO buffing 'til you're down to at least 600grit.....

And that recoil pad better be looking like part of the stock..... perfectly extended lines, NO STEPS and NO TEARS and NO FLARES hey! You lay a straightedge across the joint, no light shows through......

Learn it now while you've got the time! :) And never forget it.....

LOL

Ohhh Deeramator, those aren't "tips," those are rules! "Tips" would be HOW to accomplish this, HOW to cut the soft rubber pad cleanly and flat to the hard rubber backing plate while keeping the wood flat.....

And I want to see vertical slits in the recoil pad for your screwdriver, TINY vertical slits...... in fact, NO!! I want to NOT SEE the vertical slits! I want that pad to look like magic so nobody but a gunsmith can figure out how it's fastened on......

Ahhh, have fun. :)
