I just spoke with Dave, and it seems that after five years now, there was still some confusion about the status of this cartridge. He was under the impression that it was proprietary. It's not. He is free to make the reamers for anyone that wants and said that he'd make a few up to keep on the shelf for shipment. For those that aren't familiar with the 30 Major, it's simply a 6.5 Grendel necked up to 30 caliber. It's been known as a few different names since I did the first in 2007, such as 30 Gremlin, 30 BW, 30 Walker and 30 AS, 30 Ergle, as well as the obvious 30 Grendel, and more that I can't remember or am not aware of. The USAMU coined it a 30 Gremlin in its gas gun configuration but it shines as a legitimate option to a 30 BR in benchrest competition with a.330 neck version with less freebore. It's essentially a .070" long PPC necked to 30 as that's where it's roots lie, as the late Ferris Pindell had in mind for something very similar before the Grendel cartridge was born. It's a very good choice for someone who has a dedicated PPC boltface rifle that would like to simply screw a 30 barrel on and shoot score with his/her group gun. Dave said he has had numerous requests for the reamer but has declined based on our misunderstanding in regard to it's non-proprietary status, and asked me to post this to clear this up for anyone that may want to give it a try. I've found it to be a superb round and encourage you to call Dave at Pacific Tool and Guage to place your order. I'm sure that he will be happy to help, as would I in your needs pertaining to this round. Feel free to contact me if I can answer any questions or otherwise be of help to you.
