Darker-Colored Bullets?

Screamer Dreamin'
I've got some 6 mm, 67 gr. bullets that are darker than what I consider normal-looking bullets; the bullet on the left is the strange-looking bullet, the one on the right is the normal-looking bullet. Some questions:
  1. Any idea as to why the darker color?
  2. Is that what I've heard of as a moly-coated bullet?
  3. If "Yes" to # 2, is there anything "special" I should do before and/or after shooting such a bullet?
  4. If "No" to # 2, any idea as to why the one on the left is darker?

The bullet jacket may have been annealed. Lowell Hottenstein did this 2014 when the 0.825 jackets he received appeared to be harder than normal. They shot very well, but they were a bit fatter than his previous Simonson 68 gr bullets.

Thanks, Lee. I think George Ulrich made those darker-color bullets. I'll look to see if I have his email address.

The one on the left is tarnished. Use vinegar, water and salt. Or the solution above. A cut lemon will also do the trick. Don't forget to rinse the bullets off. If you don't rinse, overtime the citric acid will eat the jacket.

I agree with George U. I have made bullets on Sierra .810" 6mm jackets, and all were unpolished. I obtained the jackets in the early 90's. The 22 jackets looked the same. If the bullet measures .808 to .812 overall length, it is surely a Sierra.

George had the Oven. Lowell sent his jackets to George. You can clean those up with hot water and citric acid or Lemmie Shine. Or just shoot them.
Citric acid is good to use in your dish washer and clothes washer too. Gets away from that vinegar odor. IIRC you can still buy it reasonable thru eBay or likely Amazon too. Buy a 10lb or bigger qty. Don't pay high prices for those piddly little amounts.
