And renewed his call for action on gun control: "We also know that when people are armed with powerful weapons, it makes shootings like this more deadly and more tragic," he said. This was part of the Obama's speech today.

If I remember correctly the year 1966 when Charles Whitman did his shooting from a tower at U Of Texas Austin he used a scoped 6mm rifle. There was much talk about banning scoped rifles and referred to as "sniper rifles".

With all the talk about banning handguns and assault rifles, can "sniper rifles" be next.

I guess we know what would happen to benchrest rifles.

It ain't the Benchrest rifles, it's the 30-06 & 308's needed to be readied Gene.
 
At one time, our esteemed rifle expert, Diane Feinstein defined a "sniper rifle" as any firearm with a telescopic sight and proposed banning them all. At one time she also proposed the ban of all knives in California.

Might be the next agenda.
 
Timothy McVeigh blew up the federal building in Oklahoma city with a truck bomb. Maybe they need to outlaw vehicles. Point being, some people always want to outlaw the tool used. Those sick sobs that do stuff like this will always find a way.

They DID outlaw prilled nitrogen fertilizer

Al, Where I live people still put N on their wheat and pastures and it aint all liquid. I don't know where they outlawed it but you can still get dry fertilizer and diesel fuel. You might have to fill out a form. Doug

I lived in San Diego County for 18 yrs. I could not get a CCW. Boxer(and her family), Fienstien(and her family), and Pelosi(and her family) have CCW permits. Along with their guards.........Fienstien's last proposed ban on firearms was "any firearm that is black". Kinda raciest.....

Well OK, not outlawed, just heavily controlled....out here it's no longer available at the suppliers..... you need to "show reason for usage" etc. I can't just go buy bags over the counter.

Are you using ANFO in the pit?

In my world, the fertilizer dealers won't handle ammonium nitrate. Too much paper work, so we have to use urea instead.
