My 10 year grandson has a Daisy Red Ryder, that the bolt through the receiver ,somehow fell out and he lost it?? I am not sure what the bolt goes through?? The cocking lever does not have any tension on it when you go to cock it? I am assuming that this bolt is suppose to go through the spring action somehow?? Is there a schematic on line anywhere that shows how this all goes together?? Where would I get another bolt.
Do I need to send this to a Daisy repair person?

You do not need to send it off IMO

My preferred fix has been to get a bolt from a larger hardware store like Aubochon, Lowes/Depot or ParkRose. Sometimes even True Value will have it. As I remember the bolt you're referring to acts as a pivot pin (I fixed mine with a nail, 40yrs ago)

Daisy schematics here http://daisy.com/online_manuals.html

I haven't dealt with JG since I found out about Beeman but these guys useta' be helpful http://www.jgairguns.biz/gpage3.html

Good Luck

Don't snap yer fingers in the hannle or get sumpin' in yer eye......

Sorry, I just checked the online manual at Daisy. It's useless.

But seriously, stick a nail thru the hole and fiddle with it, see you don't get it working. Now go find a hardware store bolt or allthread that fits.

If my memory is flawed and this doesn't work, I have an in with an outfit called Ollie Damon's airgun repair if all else fails....

Or I'll go tear one apart!

if you cant get it working, a new red ryder isnt that costly.

"you'll put you eye out kid!"

My wife and I solved that problem. When we bought our grandson a Red Ryder bb gun for Christmas this year, we also got him a pair of shooting glasses too. Maybe should have bought some ear muffs as well so to start him right and maybe by the time he's my age, he wouldn't need hearing aids.

Brad, I say what so many times a day it's ridiculous. I've had the in the ear hearing aids and I don't like them very well. I'm trying a relatively inexpensive one now that is pretty small and fits behind the ear. If I like it, I'll get one for the other ear. So, far I like it pretty well.

:) :) My two yr-old already has his own shooting glasses and hearing protection! And he goes and gets them when he's out shooting his nerf and airsoft guns alongside "the big kids"......

My dad useta' pick on me when I wore muffs (with a radio, me) while mowing the lawn or running the tractor. It took a real act of will for him to come up one day and say "you know, that was really smart of you! You can still hear! And I'm glad to see the kids wearing protection even with their 22's...."

I guess I didn't know what to say...... I WANTED to say "well DUHHH! You raised me to use my head for something other than a hatrack!" but I just smiled and said "Thank You."
