Cutting a ball end mill shank

I just acquired a couple of Ball end mills, one is 1-1/4", the other is 1". I need the shanks reduced to 3/4". I use DCMT 32.52 inserts and want to know what carbide hardness to look for. The mills are tool steel and can be scored with a file

I do this a lot and turn them to ½" to less then ¼" just use best USA grade carbide. I do most of mine using Newcomer TPG 222 n60. Picture is showing 1¼" and 1" then the small one is for my small Albrecht chuck.
