Hello,

Stumbled across this interesting new bolt action design. At least new to me. It's made by Custom Shooting Technologies in Kentucky and the action is called a TF1. It uses a three lug bolt and an interesting way of preventing bolt lift. Nice to see a three lug bolt body that is not also the diameter of the lugs. Anyone familiar with this action?

I have no connection to these people just thought it was a new idea of making a better mouse trap.

Google search shows its also sold in the UK by Dolphin Gun Company.

It sure has a lot of traits that the old Anthony Gilkes action had. Haven't seen one of those in a long time though.

What is the weight of the action? That's a huge factor when building a Light Varmint or Sporter rifle for BR.

The website says the SBRR action weighs 32ozs. with trigger

I'm thinking the SBR is the one @ 38.5oz w/o trigger.

I'm pretty impressed except for the "angled screws which make triple torque" that I don't see doing anything except complicating the system.

Thanks for posting this, I'm looking......

I agree, not sure of reason for overkill on angled screws. There round action, model SBRR, does not have this. Just "regular" holes for stock screws.

I want one just because they are interesting. Have to find better reason to tell the wife though.

I know him well enough to know that he'd give his honest opinion to anybody that called.

Hmmm. Does this mean an old BAT or Panda is now obsolete, like an old 40-X? Or is their such a thing as "obsoleter"?

Maybe I'll take my old Joines-smithed 40-X to the next match. The one with one of Pat McMillan's barrels...I'm obsoleter, too.

Bart had one of the varmint benchrest configurations of this action. I believe it was the 2012 Shamrock.
He took it apart and it contains a bunch of pieces parts. I couldn't see any features of this unique design that would make it functionally desirable over a Panda or BAT.

Of course more choices is always good. Competition always keeps the existing producers on their toes.

Jennings, thanks for checking with someone that has owned one. Hope he responses in the near future.
