CT State shoot?

Anyone have any standings after 100 yards? Tks.

I left right after the shooting ended both days so I don't have an official talley sheet but,
Kim Lewellyen (spelling?) won the 100yd match.

I believe Mike Suhie won 200yds.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thanks. Most results up on IBS website.

Hello, I'm new to long distant shooting & in Ct. Are you guys talking about a shoot in Ct? Are there any links to these?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Killick Welcome to Benchrest Central.

Yes we have short range Benchrest in CT now thanks to Mike Suhie and all the folks that help him.
The website I linked to has all the info you need. If not I'd be glad to help or better yet and more informed you can contact Mike himself through that link.
Your always welcome to come out and watch or bring a gun and shoot. Your choice.

Thank you for the welcome, link, and offer jo. I'll read up and everything to get familiar with it all. I know I'll still have a million questions! It sounds like a lot of fun and I will come out to the range first to soak everything in. I see there are two more events this year.

As for your million questions. Yeah, I quess in retrospect your absolutely correct. My statement that the link provided would have all the info needed is false:D
I still have a million questions and even the top shooters are often heard mumbling the question WHY? whenever a shot fails to go where intended.

If your looking for more reading try here. http://www.international-benchrest.com/
Under downloads you'll find the IBS rulebook. Lots of info in there, right up until you pull the trigger that is.
Hope you join us-Joe Hecht.

I sure will be joining you guys. I'm planning on coming up for the August 18 event for a looksy.
I'll do some more reading from the new link.

Sept 29th is our next 200yd Benchrest shoot.
I see on the calendar Aug 18th is a Highpower event. I assume at 200yds also. It is congested Ct. Not much longrange options available. Longest range in Ct is in my backyard, or someone elses for that matter.
Anyhow, two different disciplines. Very different.

Benchrest is as stated. Shooting from a bench with rests/sandbags some of the most accurate rifles ever made. (Even mine, pay no attention to those pesky scores, they lie just like those pesky windflags):D
Or bring along whatever you got. Theres factory and custom classes for anything that does'nt quite fit the regs.

High power is military style firearms (mostly AR-15's I imagine) with iron sights. If I'm not mistaken they shoot prone, sitting and standing.
After my back surgery I appreciate the benches. Whats your cup of tea?

That sounds good Jo. I made an AR this past winter. Shoot it locally at an indoor range. I went to a range in Pa. that a friends of mine is a member. They have one rifle range that goes out to 1,000 yds. I did shoot on the 500 yard side and it's were I got the bug! Some will argue differently but I know this thing, (11.5" barrel also), isn't for precision shooting. So I'm gathering components for a precision rifle. Purchased a new Remington 700 short action bolt with the thought of chambering in 6.5 Creedmoor. The bolt is out now getting jeweled, (has to look purdy also ;) . I actually visited with Carl Bernosky and picked his brain. He'll be doing the chambering etc. on the barrel.
So I'll go see what is the lay of the land at the August event, (maybe even take the AR?), and also the September event to watch & learn.

Killick,
If you decide to come to the September shoot there is no reason why you need to watch and learn. Jump on in with whatever you have and we will be happy to guide you along. We always have a safety meeting before hand and make sure that any new shooters know the course of fire and how the match will run. We usually run two relays and finish up at 2:30 or so. Breakfast and lunch are included in the lunch fee and we usually have a good time.
There is a class for whatever you bring so don't be shy and don't be afraid of the competition. Everyone started out somewhere and most of the guys who shoot with us are relatively new to the game anyway.
I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have and you can pm through this site or email me at the address listed on the bellcity.org website. The FAQ section should help a little, but if you haven't had a chance yet and want to read more about benchrest I would suggest Mike Ratigan's and Tony Boyer's books as well as the Benchrest Shooting primer. That should fill the first few years of competition for you along with the information you gain from shooting in match competition.
Mike

Thank you Mike & Joe. I may just take you up on the offer. I have my father's Remington 760 in 30.06 circa 1952 but in excellent condition. I have been doing a lot of reading from the links Joe posted.
btw... the range really looks nice.
