Im having a little trouble, Seems that my wilson Die only does the top half of the neck ???? When seating bullets to about 5 thou. Jam the bullet then wants to fall on into the case . Im downto a .257 bushing & about a 8 thou jam to make the bullets stay. Does this seem proper. How much tension do
most shooters use, Ive heard o to tight ????

Is there any possibility that the throat is too short for the projectile that you want to use? If you have been sizing tight enough, then it seems that short jamming is pushing the projectile far enough back so the parallel body slips back beyond where sizing has occurred, & that a long way into the neck.

Actually the instructions Speak of this but insist that most shooters prefer it, & say they can add another 3/16 by re cutting the die on request for an undetermined amount. I am using a Die Marked 6 PPC & shoot a 6PPC . 262 neck , right now using 68 gr. Bergers while were talkin I have a 1-15 twist bbl. What weight bullet would be best for this .

I shoot a Billy Stevens built 6PPC with a .262 neck. I turn my brass down so that a loaded round measures .2605. I use a .257 bushing with Vihtavuori N133 powder. Billy's told me 133 likes a lot of tension and recommended that bushing. I also use Bart Sauter's 65 to 68 grain bullets in a 1-13.5 twist barrel. Your 1-15 is OK. Tony Boyer uses one on occasion. I full length size each and every time with a custom die provided by Billy and use a Wilson Seater with a micrometer top. I adjusted the stem so I seat my bullets with mark that is twice as long as it's wide. The chamber was cut with .045" of freebore. I trim my brass back to 1.500" when it needs it.

You don't sound like you're not too far off. I recommend you full length size for one thing. Eventually you're going to have to do it. Best do it all the time. I'd double check your seating stem adjustment. Hope this helps some. :)

I have a Wilson SS 6PPC die that has been modified to size 90% of the neck. This would give you a uniform grip much further down the neck.

The fix is to have the upper portion of the body of the die shortened as others have mentioned, which will size more of the neck, preferrably 75-80 percent of the neck length, and will provide added grip to the bullet seat.

A quick fix, other than lathe turning the upper portion of the die body, is to add a washer/spacer or multiple washer/spacers i.d. .375" and smaller o.d. than .500" sandwiched between the neck bushing and die top. Stack multiples to get the desired neck sizing dimension desired........Don

Thank you All for the input. I have a friends set of dies just like mine & he has 5 of the washers spoken of BUTTTTT Try as I might I cant see how those placed anywhere would increase depth of sizing onto the neck. I have moved to the 257 Bushing & this seems to have helped. I gues my frustration comes from the concept that you should have only minimum tension on the bullet, OF COURSE THE PROOFS IN THE SHOOTIN SO ILL LET YALL KNOW.
My loaded rnd. Measures .261 With 3 different bullets. DARN I hate to drop this bomb but do ALL bullets have pressure rings ???? This is a new term to me since Ive been trying to learn benchrest loading. HAD to look it up:(
