Counterfeit Leupold scopes.

These things have been popping up on eBay over the past year or so. Most of the time they are the Tactical models. Lots of Mall Ninjas, Play Army and Airsoft Commandos out there...these counterfeiters know their market.

When an $1,100 Leupold has a 'Buy It Now' price of $249 and ships from Singapore....most peoples B.S. Radar would go off, you'd think.

You gotta be real carefull. It's only been in recent months that this stuff is hitting the market BAD! Evidently, the same ba*tards that are manufacturing counterfeit Leupolds are counterfeiting a lot of other name brand optics too, and imprinting the original company's name and Logo on the item. Some unscrupulous sellers will glady oblige. Or some buyers who got stuck with the phony stuff want to pawn it off in the classifieds. There's a lot of counterfeit Aimpoints too out there (used by AR15 shooters) being circulated.

A lot of people haven't apparently learned that if something sounds too good to be true, it likely is.:eek:

Yea, Larry, you're right that it is often the case that a buyer should have known better. But, I wouldn't doubt that some folks will get burned by a charachter who knows how to be discreet and price this counterfeit junk just right so it seems very fairly priced and doesn't arouse undue suspicion.

A new high quality brand named product for 1/4 the MSRP or even way below what someone like Bear Basin sells the supposedly same product for should be a warning to anyone who's paying attention. OTOH if some scumbag sells the product for what an honest discounter (Bear Basin, etc) sells the real thing for it'd be hard to tell or know until you had the lump in your hands and found out that it was junk. I've been bitten a time or two in my time, and have gotten so that I'm pretty cautious about "good deals" from people I haven't dealt with or have never heard about.
