Correcting firing pin strike location...options ?

I'm tuning a Marlin model 780 bolt action .22LR. Bolt has a striker pin and spring, an intermediate pin and firing pin in the front bolt half. I replaced the striker and spring and now installed a new firing pin. I got rid of some sputtering/misfires by correcting the protrusion outward and all is pretty good EXCEPT I see with a magnifier that the firing pin strike is consisitently outboard. The tip is a rounded flat cone, in otherwards it is not fully round like a BB, but is flatened off at a mild angle so the strike shows a smooth conical depression. The hits show the hard rim is exposed and being pushed outward. From I see others have said, I'd say this is not the best result.

My question for you is this...I have two choices..one is to use a spare or borrow a different front bolt half that may have its pin bore more inward so the stike will move away from the rim. Or my second option would be to grind back the diameter of the pin to a smaller shape so it is not hitting that hard rim. Which approach do you think is best? My new pin tip is now .085" in diameter, if I reduce how small is OK? Or do you have a 3rd alternative to suggest?
Thanks a LOT !
