Corbin bullet swage

Fifteen or twenty years ago I bought a hand swage press and various dies and punches in .452 from Corbin. I played with it for a few nights and then put it away. Now, a long time later, I'm interested in playing with it some more. Anyone have any experience with swaging handgun or rifle bullets using Corbin dies? Specifically, can one make bullets superior to factory projectiles using Corbin equipment?

Check out the castboolits site, they have a swaging section in the forum.

Yes ! The quality of a bullet is also about the concentricity of the jacket and the precision of the swaged core in addition to the quality of the dies added too the skill of the swager.
Corbin dies usually make good bullets if you do your job also.
For pistol bullets I would also think about CH dies that go in a standard reloading press . They are cheap and work quite well and easy to use . They have a single die called a zinc base die that can swage a lead Kieth nose pistol bullet with an attached base washer in one pull of the press handle.
It takes way longer than a few nights to master bullet swaging. If you stick at it for a few years you will be surprised how good your bullets are.

yes ,as a rule, one can make a better bullet, BUT in 452?? are we talking 45 acp or 45 colt ? if so, just buy bullets. unless you are a competive bullseye shooter i doubt you will notice the diff at pistol ranges. now when you go to rifle and precission shooting hand made bullets rule.
