Looking at Cooper Arms website I noticed they are offering a BR rifle to the public. They only have one picture but it looks good.
Seems this rifle is only offered in 22LR but I'm sure other calibers will come along soon.
not a bad looking rig for $1200.

I apologise if this info has been out and I live in the dark.

Yes, it's a good rifle for the money, but it doesn't get much use in BR because of the 2# trigger. I would be very suprised if they ever offered it in anything other than 22 LR. That is really to only cartridge that is used in RF BR.

Trp-3

rifles have been available for quite a while. Originally stocks were black, then red and now the pillar bedded green McMillan model you see in the photo. A very few were produced with wood stocks. All are .22LR. They are advertised as "introductory" BR rifles, whatever that means. I have one green one with a Weaver T-36 scope, Jard 2 oz trigger and Hoehn tuner. It has given me a 250-15X, 248-12X and 248 10x shot on April 22, 2008 on the club's (GCRPC, Biloxi, MS) IR50/50 style target. For ARG competition, I got lucky and shot a 0.094" 5-shot group and won Unlimited class last Sunday. Mine likes Eley Team at 1045-1060 fps and Lapua Master M.

Bottom line is: You may live in the dark, but if you're looking for a good BR rifle, I'd recommend the TRP-3. When your skills and pocketbook permit you may move up to a $$$$$ rifle. If I wished to compete on a national level, I'd learn, practice and study the equipment list of the match winners. As it is, I've been shooting rimfire BR about 15 months now and am having a very good time!

Hi,
JARD makes a trigger for the Cooper.
With the JARD trigger you change springs to vary the trigger pull.
You can get down to 2oz.easily and it is a good crisp trigger, every bit as good as other big name triggers.

Hi Rick,

Sounds like a good introductory rifle for the money. Those scores are pretty nice too.

I shoot centerfire but I noticed these on Coopers website. I'm getting ready to order one of Coopers custom classics in 280 AI when I noticed the BR.

Have a great weekend,

Rich

A Correction

to my previous post. The green TRP-3 stock is Bell & Carlson not McMillan. I hate to brag (yeah, right!!!) but the rifle is shooting very well for me.

I saw this rifle in action the last ARA match here in San Diego. The owner of it installed a lighter trigger and a tuner. It did pretty fair. It averaged in the high 1500s, with an exceptional target of 2050 (and this was with strong winds and even a dust devil). I also do believe he was using SK ammo.

I know he is on this website, so maybe if he sees this thread he will mention his rifle and correct anything I may have been mistaken on.
