Does anyone know where I might find plans for a good Concrete Shooting Bench?
 
Boyd allen has a print he might share with you. Boyd is a great fella. Look him up in the members directory and send him a Pm and tell him i told you to ask about this. thanks Lee
 
I tried the search but the thread might have gotten lost in the transisition. Alinwa has a beautifuf bench setup that would be the envy of the Better homes and gardens readers. Randy

A few years ago I did a study of shooting benches and I wrote an article with photos and drawings from my results. This is a photo of one type of bench that I refer to as a "moveable bench". It is very solid and weighs about 475 pounds. World class records can be shot off of this type of bench.

I made my new benches 40" long. I havent had a chance to set them up on blocks yet as we are busy getting my folks moved into there new home but everytime i look at them i feel like the are to short? Do you think 40" long is plenty long? Thanks lee

About $65 without any labor. One of our club shooters is a welder and a good one and the rest of us did the concrete work. We now have 21 of these at our range. Dan Killough has 20 at his range. I have a set of plans along with a cut list for anyone who is interested.

The problem with my benches (I've done a few) is that they're not portable nor are there 'plans' available. I'm a contractor, I just form them and pour as if they were a wall or tiebeam or whatever.

I'll probably design and build a re-usable single-form one of these days because when I get my inside range back I want 5-7 single-person portable benches......

As of now my stuff is pretty much single-purpose and set up for casual group use. I've poured about half of the setups isolated (slab and table not touching) and the others all tied together....... so far there's not a lick of difference. You can walk around on 6-8 tons of concrete without your neighboring shooter being disaffected at all.

My benches are all set up with isolated rebar grids so that if I ever want them to be separated I can do so with a diamond saw no big deal.
