Competions and Air Rifles

Aout 2 months ago I purchhased a Gamo Hunter Extreme in .22 and am very impressed! I am 36 and haven't had an air rifle in over 20 yrs. Now I have a son who is 14 and he bugged me for a long time about getting a gun. The Extreme is too b ig for him so I ordered him (and me ;) a RWS 34P Striker. That should be here the 16th. I have enjoyed shooting the Extreme so much that I'm considering competition but I am not sure if there's anything in my area. I'm in upstate NY and am willing to travel. I guess I have just 2 questions...

1. Where is the best place to look for current tourny's/competitions?

2. I need a nice match air rifle! Steyr 91? Beeman P70? Suggestions?

I greatly appreciate anay and all help.

For competition you will need a Pre Charged Pneumatic rifle. For 10 meter, an Anschutz or FWB, for Field Target or Benchrest, something with more power. The spring piston rifles are great for plinking and hunting, but simply not competitive with the PCP's.
 
Send a PM to "Renegade", he's in Salem NY and was running AGBR Matches. I'm not sure if he still is but he would be the person most likely to be able to answer your question. As to needing a PCP gun, that is not the case, many competions run multiple classes, match, springer, and unlimited, and one of the NY area shooters is setting records with an RWS54...
