Cold Weather Rimfire Ammunition

G'day.

It was pretty chilly at our local (Oz) range today (6°C) and one of the blokes asked why I kept my 'Tenex' in an inside pocket.
I replied that the accuracy seemed to fall off when the temperature dropped so I like to keep the cartridges warm.

A few of us had a discussion about this and I asked the question regarding why manufacturers would go to the trouble to manufacture 'Biathlon' (low temperature) ammunition if the regular grades were ok?

Just thought that it was a question that maybe some of you people who regularly shoot rimfire in cooler climates might have more information on.
