Are there any BR clubs in Middle Georgia or any in Georgia at all?

Mggoa

The Middle Ga. Gun Owners Associationis a club that offers Rifle, Pistol, andd Shotgun(skeet, and trap) As for bench rest, next week, the 15th and 16th of March, we host the 7th annual Shamrock match. This is a two day two yardage, for light and heavy varmint. I truly thought that everyone interested in B/R shooting had by now heard of our club and this match. I am maybe smelling a little hoax, but if you are serious and want to know any more about our club, feel free to contact me, Rusty Carr, 478-275-4584.
If you are serious, thanks for your interest, Rusty

and there's a club shoot tomorrow(3/8/08score), I promise you'll never find a better group of friends to shoot with!!!!!!

In all sincerety its not a hoax. I have been interested in the hunter class for a while but never hear of anyone around my area doing any organized matches.

giving a 6 power hunter class a hard look myself, if you make it tomorrow I'll share what I've found,,

6X is not real popular in the South East actually not real popular would probably be an understatement.

Apology

I am sorry about suggesting it mightbe a hoax, but I have a couple of friends that would do such a thing, and now with us working to get eady for the Shamrock,I thought it would be prime time. If you live anywhere near Dublin, you should make plans to come over and check us out. The week of the Shamrock is a great time to see our club and range. Please contact me at rustycarr@hotmail.com or callme @ 478-275-4584 Thanks again for your interest, Rusty

There is a really nice gun club at Elberton...

a very nice group of fellows. They have great concrete, marble top benches, range to 400 yards!

Keith - the Elberton club has marble top benches or are they granite? Elberton is home to several granite quarries and what is usually a über-luxury kitchen counter top is used for bench tops? The town bills itself as the "Granite Capital of the World".

After thinking about this, I would be curious to know how the tops hold up to rest points-whether marble or granite. I suspect they may be one of the very few clubs that could afford cut stone for their benchtops!

I used to live in nearby Athens, GA and am somewhat familiar with the area.

Had a great time at the match at Pinetucky wish there had of been more people in our class of factory varmit ,Which means in our terms any factory centerfire rifle that does not come out of the custom shop , adjust the trigger any ammo handloads or factory with a max power of 24x on the scope if it is larger just turn it down and have a great time with the rest of us we would like to get some more shooters in this class to shoot around the Dublin Ga area on the second Sat. of the month if you have any questions just e-mail myself or David Dumas

We will try to accomodate most anything centerfire, as you know. Just a reminder that our 1st match is April 19th. See ya'll then.

I live in southwest georgia, Albany to be precise, and the drive to Dublin is only two hours. I have yet to make it to Riverbend, but all of the shooters I have met from there are very nice. My daughter lives in Augusta, so I get to shoot at Pinetucky every now and then. Joe Entrekin and his group are very nice, but the competition is really stiff! Same at the other ranges, everyone will help you a great deal, and probably let you shoot a real bench rest rifle, or maybe a 30BR! Shooting a really accurate rifle is what got me hooked, and now that I own two, I still can't shoot little bitty groups!

I am in Thomaston GA. I am gonna try and make to Dublin on Sunday just to check things out. My dang work schedule screws with being able to shoot matches though.

If you are in Thomaston, you might want to attend one of Mickey Coleman's fine matches at Rachel's Glen. I guarantee you'll have a GREAT time with that bunch.
