Hello everybody,I'm quite new in benchrest. So I've got a question.I shoot an Anschütz 1913 and I bought a Cicognani fat 1 barrel tuner for it.
Are there any shortcuts in setting it up?On it there is 1 hex screw (not the clamping screws),what is it for:regulating or fixing?Any help is very appreciated

Re: Tuner

HI Pieter, the screw is to lock the tuner in at the desired point thast the rilfe shoots the best.

cheers, Andyd

Thanks Andy.I assumed it was for fixing, although it is secured by clicks.
Any help on setting it up?
I turned it one full turn at a time and shot 5 shots. Two groups were better than the others. So I continued by setting 1 click plus or minus.
Is this the way to go or is a complete turn to begin with too much?

Re; Last

Hya Pieter,
i would say go either 3 clicks both ways with the two best groups you got it if makes a better group then go with that, if it not better just stick with the best group out of the two groups.

I have been repeating the different settings that grouped best.If you make 3 clicks the groups open up.But anyhow I now have found a setting that repeatedly shot 9mm groups. It doesn't come any better with a standard Anschütz I presume.

I believe you have found a very sweet spot. Write that setting down so if you get to playing more with the tuner, you can always come back to that setting.

Yes Fiddler I think so too.I've marked it on the test target.
Problem is of this lot I now have 55 boxes left.If they are gone I can start all over. All together it took me 8 boxes to come to this setting.I accidentaly had 1 box with another lotnumber and I didn't notice.I returned to the previous settings to further try them out.And yes it didn't group.I thought I was going bezerk. But than I saw it was a transparent box instead of a black one....It had been lying around in the dealers display case.
I changed to an other box and hey presto grouping was back.Welcome to the wonderous world of rimfire.

Once you have the "sweet sopt" you shouldn't have to move too many clicks for a different lot of ammo....usually.

Thanks Steve, thats nice to know.I don't like "wasting" ammo at these prices nowadays. But like you say you never know for sure with rimfire.
