Chronographs - Older Oehler 35P vs New CED M2

I am in the market for a chronograph and would like to get a better understanding of the quality and accuracy of the (now out of production) Oehler 35P. My goal is to get the most consistently repeatable velocity readings for the money. A computer interface, memory storage, intuitive interface, printer, etc. are all nice but I would sacrifice them all for reliable accuracy.

The best chronograph for the money today appears to be the CED M2. My question is, considering my primary objective of accuracy, should I seek to find a used Oehler or go with the CED.

Don't have the CED, but the Shooting Chrony..works well but as far as the Oehler is concerned, it uses 3 screens and takes the average ( I believe) over the three instead of the two for the other chronographs. If one reading is way off from the other abviously something is wrong and with the others you may think it was a light round or hot round but may not have been.

Just a much better way of giving you a more accurate reading and it's a shame they aren't in production anymore but you can get parts...i'm always on the hunt for one though.

The advantages with the Oehler 35 is that it has three screens and they can be set farther apart which makes the unit as a whole, more accurate.

By combining three screens, it adds a proof screen to determine any errors.

It is indeed very accurate and I've only had mine not work once or twice out of thousands of setups. About the only thing it won't work in is fog. But the price has now doubled for them. And the CED M2 is a great unit at half the price roughly.

The good news is you are choosing between two good things so you can't make a bad choice!
