Choate Stock for Savage Mod. 12

I recently purchased a Choate ultimate varmit stock for my for my Savage Model 12 BVSS .22-250. I just couldn't get comfortable with that huge palm swell on the factory wood stock! I called Choate and they said yes, the stock they have listed in the Midway catalog for the Savage Model 10 will indeed fit the Model 12. I received it today and when I put it on the action the bolt will not lift if I tighten down the Barrel screw! The action seems to fit quite well in the stock, and the screw that goes into the trigger assembly/lug (rear screw) seems to have no effect on the bolt not closing. But if I tighten down the forward screw into the barrel lug, (and I'm not talking about torquing it with a breaker bar). I mean barely past finger tight, the bolt locks up and won't move! It does this no matter where the rear screw is, in, out, loose, tight, it doesn't matter. Is there an easy fix for this? Or do I need to have a gunsmith bed it or whatever?

Thanks, Paul
