Changing firing pin spring

Are there any instructions for doing this, or is it discussed anywhere?
It is a Remington 700.

There are tools available (Brownelss for one) that allow you to compress the firing pin spring enough to see the crosspin that is driven through the cocking piece. Or you can make a tool with a piece of tubing with a 1/2-13 hole in each end and a pusher screw with a hole in it for the firing pin tip.
Mark the cocking piece so that it goes back the same as it was before removal.
Release pressure and disassemble. You may have to clean up the hole in the firing pin (burrs) to get things to go together easily. Reassemble with new spring and you are finished.

I use a "starter punch", usually a pin punch that has broken off. Just grind it flat on the end, looks like a center punch that almost comes to a point. Support the cocking piece very well in a V-block and strike a firm blow.
