Center to Rear grip xp-100

My uncle just bought a Remington XP-100 in 7mm BR. We are planning to do some work with it. Before we jump in head first I have a few questions for guys that have done this before...

We want to change the configuration from Cneter grip to rear grip, which will allow us to use a more conventional trigger.

In doing so, I see we have to replace the Recoil lug... Present one has slot for trigger transfer bar.

Is there a better way of mounting it to a rear grip stock, I only see the one front action screw,... and that rear screw that has the "t" nut in the slot in the stock.

When I set it up... I will most likely pin the new recoil lug and set it up as a single shot with switch barrel capabilities.... Target, Deer, Varmint usage.

Any experienced ideas out there?

Hi Paul,

Long ago I built more than one XPs like you're talking about. I used wood stocks mostly but also a Brown Precision (I think they're gone now) I'd get the stock in hand to see what allowance they make for a second guard screw. You can use the factory rear screw that goes in from inside the action or you can drill and tap a new hole. Either way, unless you're making your stock from scratch its best to see what the stock maker had in mind. The other way is to glue it in a synthetic stock and just go with the one screw.
