I've lucked into a very good deal on a Redding Competition seater for the 6mm BR (Yes, I consider Free to be a good deal). I don't own a 6mm BR, though, but do have a 6x47L coming. Redding wants some big $$ for anything related to that latter cartridge. Are the case dimensions of these two close enough that I could use the 6mm BR seater to seat bullets in the 6x47L? I know they both have a 30 degree shoulder angle - what about shoulder diameter and neck length? I also know that I'd have to set it up differently in the press- would it still give me enough support with the sliding sleeve to seat bullets concentric? Any other shortcomings?

It'd save me a TON of money to be able to use it......

When the case first showed up, a couple of the locals made "6x47"s using their 6BR reamers & loaded with 6BR dies without too many signs that the sky was falling in. They were shooting F class, not bench.

Guess it depends what you want to achieve.....

Dingus, ABSOLUTELY you can use the 6BR seater. Through a misunderstanding I've got a $175.00 custom-fitted made-with-the-chambering-reamer micrometer top, chrome plated fully illuminated 6X47L seater......... AND I've got the old Wilson 6BR seater that I used while the other one was being built.

I like the basic Wilson BETTER and it's easier to use.

There is no downside.

Your fancy sliding setup will work just fine as the neck is quite a bit shorter on the 6X47......if your ammo is crooked it ain't gonna' be the die's fault.
