This double IR 50-50 Unlimited was the last match of the season. Conditions for the first two targets were pretty good, temps in the high sixties to low seventies, overcast, wind light and variable.
Later, the sun peaked out, the wind came up to about 6 mph and variable from about all directions...typical Cap City winds. We had to draw benches for the second match and not one person drew the same bench as in the first match...pretty rare!
Congrats to Paul Bendix for his three wins, especially his nice 249-19x on the first target of the day. Picher also did pretty well, winning three targets, but his off-the-shelf ammo had a few flyers, keeping him humble, if not a bit ticked off.
Joe Shaw, in his eighties and with bad eyes, had some good targets getting a 2nd and four 3rds. Mike Luce broke into the winning column with a third place on the last target of the day.
Chuck Kellogg won first Plinker of the day with his 10-22, shooting a 234-7x. There are fewer Plinker rifles shooting these days, but they're important to bring people into benchrest and help us make some lightly-attended UL matches official.
