Those of you who have Excel can access the attached match report.

It was an overcast day with threat of rain, but little wind. Temp was all of 45* and we had a light turnout, but competition was pretty good for Maine. George Barnard showed up, after a year's absence and the old soul shooting the old Stolle shot pretty well.

Joe Shaw was also back, after a year's absence. Joe is an octogenarian who loves to shoot, but had rifle problems since getting a Stolle built a couple of years ago. Hopefully, this year will bring the magic.

Next match on May 17 will be a memorial to my good friend Guy Coro who passed away from cancer early this year. Guy and I had been shooting together in various disciplines since the early 60's. He and I went to matches at Jacksonville, Salem, NY, and Pinnacle in NH and he helped me run matches here in Augusta.

The match is not a SOTY match, but an informal match geared to getting as many people to shoot as possible. Personal scores will matter to most, but not so much to me.

John,
Sounds like you had a good match. Sorry I will be missing a lot of your matches.
I wanted to run indoor Benchrest matches at Holbrook. The only day they would give me was the first Sat. of the month. I had my first match yesterday and had 8 shooters. I was happy. I posted pictures at Airgun on this forum.
I hope to shoot one match this summer in Maine.

John,
I am very sorry to hear that Guy has passed away. I enjoyed the chance to shoot with him both at Augusta and here in Salem. He was a very nice guy, and I know you guys will miss him.

Good to see George's name on a RF match report again.
Hope to get a chance to shoot with you again sometime,
Todd

Paul,

We'll miss you at Cap. City this year, but hope you make it sometime. I'm not travelling to matches much this year, but I'd like to try your range sometime. My golf clubs also demand that I play with them on most non-shooting weekends. That doesn't leave many weekends during the warm weather.

What we really need is an indoor 50 yard range where we can shoot all winter.

Todd,

Thanks for the nice sentiments. I hope we do shoot together again sometime. We enjoyed going to your range. It sounds like Salem is getting to be pretty big. We gain and lose shooters, but hardly ever get more than the 8 benches we have. There's room for two more benches on that range.

I'm also glad that George is shooting again. I try to keep him on his toes. It drives him crazy when I beat him with my old gear, including home-made windflags made from wire coathangers and plastic sign board set in music stands. The surveyors tape hung from beer can tabs are classic redneck.

My 50 year-old rifle with lead flashing wrapped around the tuner and the second-hand front rest complete the picture. :D
