Gentlmen,
I have an inquirey from your country about shipping a Kidd 10/22 trigger to him. I know the rules are stringent and paper work.

Also there is FFL involved.

I should have added, "any help with info on regulations to ship this would be appreciated. "
Thank you..

Canada has no restrictions on this.
The US however does have export regulations on many firearm parts and usually require an export license.

Canada is very wierd about shipping anything gun related.
I once sent a Lyman target spot scope to Canada all legal, but the receiving post master did not approve and would not release it to the customer till I filed an insurance claim.
The best luck getting stuff to Canada is ship to a town near the border and have them come over and hand carry it across.
I have done that with barrels and triggers.

It isn't Canada that is so weird about gun related things... it is the current US export regulations... brought in after 911.

To suggest smuggling US State Department regulated export items and to admit to doing it is rather stupid to say the least.

Dennis;

Thank for the input. I was kinda hoping you'd chime in. So are you saying I need to get an export license ?
I'm thinking I'm better off taking it to Gander Mountain, paying them a fee, and perhaps let them ship it.

I put this trigger on Gunbroker .com . Maybe they can come up with a solution.
Any other ideas ?

Thanks again

My guess is if the manufacturer is not registered with the US State Department no one can export it out of the US. That is why Brownell's can not export so very many items they have in stock...

But if it can be shipped someone with an export license is the one to talk to. They have the licensing in place.

I know Prophet River Firearms in Alberta (http://store.prophetriver.com/) handles a lot of imports for US exporters.

I don't think it was smuggling. The guy that wanted the stuff is the one that told me to do it. He said there was no restriction on carrying the stuff into Canada for personal use, it was just a hassle to ship it into Canada.
I did it one time then got paranoid and wouldn't have anything to do with shipping to Canada after that.

He sort of lied... there is no Canadian law against bringing it into Canada... it is the US export law that is being broken... many of the controlled export items can not be given to a non US resident in the US as well...

I'm glad I got paranoid.
Probably one of my biggest faults is I tend to trust people a little too much to be honest with me, it has cost me thousands of dollars over the last 50 years. I still get sucked in by supposedly honest people.

in Alberta edmonton mil-arm carries kidd stuff

you are just asking for major trouble,

the guy in Canada should ,and probably does know better, .

end the deal now,

Jefferson

You wouldn't happen to need a bridge would you?

Wilbur,
How long is it and is it pick up or delivered? I assume you want paid in advance with a cashier's check?

Pick up please...tell you what....I'll let you have it for what I paid. Actually, I'll let you finance and float the no interest loan myself with 25% cash down.
