Hello everyone!

I was wondering if I could get some help identifying this Winchester 52 and it’s value. I used this rifle to competition shoot in scheutzen style shooting about 10 years ago which is when I bought it. The owner said something about it being custom made for the Olympics in the 1960’s. I am having a hard time finding other Winchester 52’s that look like mine.

The model number is 86681C.

Any help on identifying exactly what this is and what it is worth would be much appreciated!

Best Regards,

Dan

Your rifle appears to me to be a Roy Dunlap built 52C Heavy Target. All hardware such as buttplate, triggerguard, and handstop are Dunlap items which he supplied on his custom built rifles. Trigger appears to be Canjar, with a modified shoe. I estimate your rifle was manufactured somewhere around 1954. I have a near identical Dunlap rifle, with a s/n about 200 units after yours. It has a 1954 dated factory barrel, indicating it was probably manufactured late 1954 or possibly 1955. Winchester did build a handful of experimental C's with single shot, solid bottom receivers. However, these typically fall a bit later in the s/n range from yours. You can contact me at seewinr@aol.com if you have any further questions. I would be happy to forward to you pictures of mine if interested.
