Can rifle bolts be Parkerized ?

The Remington 700 complete action was rusted,pitted now polished. Won't prepping the receiver/ bolt with aluminum oxide remove metal and cause the action to be rough even after parkerizing?
Doesn't Remington treat several models with Parkerized finish ? This for a general purpose hunting rifle not a bench rest rig.
 
Yes it can be done..no problem. It plates best over sandbalsted surfaces, and will hold up better. If you want to keep some areas slicker, mask then when sandblasting, then remove masking and plate. Degrease thoroughly and don't touch it with bare hands till finished. --Mike
