does anyone know what twist an old wetherby 300 mag has its probably late 60's or early 70's

Bud, you can easily figure this out yourself. Push a tight-fitting patch on a cleaning rod into the bore. Mark the rod near the handle so you can tell when it's made a complete revolution as it twists.

Push the patch into the bore and measure the distance the rod travels in one full revolution. There's your bore twist.
