I bought a Coldwell front rest for load development and was wondering if there is an easy way to upgrade the front rest sand bag that attaches. Should I use heavier sand? Should I fill it halfway or pack it full? Thanks for the help

Don't know about bag upgrades but probably. Nothing to be gained from heavy sand in a front rest and I've found that tightly packed bags are "bouncy".

Good to know. Thank you. I am totally ignorant to bag density. Ill use the heavy sand in the rear bag and take a bit out of the front rest.

Took your advice and changed out the sand for normal sand but less of it so it wasn’t “bouncy”. Then I hot glued the bag onto the metal plate so it doesn’t slide back and forth. Feels worlds better. I’ll try it out today, hopefully. Should take another .2” off my groups.... which should have me shooting in the 9s :)

Took it out yesterday and what a difference. Really liked the front rest being more stable. Nomsliding bag and no bounce. The chromium sand in the rear bag is definitely noticeable. Groups were at 200yds with a 6.5cm I just built for fun. 8 different loads.
