Caldwell Fire control Rest

Has anyone used this rest from Caldwell. I was curious if it was better than their old stuff. It is controlled with one hand adjustment which is nice. I wonder how it compares to a Farley rest at about 1/3 rd the price.:confused:

James, sorry to say this but it's like comparing an old Chevy with a Ferrari. You would never seen a Caldwell fire control rest in a big match, I believe.

James it may be good enough for plinking out at the farm. As SEB said, come race day it is the real deal that you want. Seb, Farley, Shadetree etc are raceday rests.

Well....IMO...if you are on a budget they work just fine...I have owned a SEB and a Shadetree Engineering joystick rest and they are fine equipment...but to say you can't win with a Caldwell Fire Control is "bold talk"...I live and shoot in West Texas I don't have the budget to travel and shoot all the matches I would like....and as many will attest...San Angelo, Texas is very similar to Midland in the type of shooting conditions we see...now that being said...I am a budget shooter...I built my own 30BR VFS rifle from an old XP100 action, Bruno/Mcmillan stock and Kreiger barrel, topped with a Weaver 36x and I don't shoot H4198...but as more than a few shooters here on this forum will attest to...I win my share of matches and still hold the range record
(500-33x) using a Caldwell Fire Control.....take a look at some of the photos of the rest and bags that Jackie Schmit in Houston Texas uses...they aren't very pretty..:D
but he just keeps on shooting "darn well" with that old stuff...;)

In closing I would say you can get the time from a Rolex or a Timex, but that Rolex is a work of art...

Just my 2 cents worth...
