Butch's or Shooters Choice

Depends on who you ask and sometimes what discipline they shoot as to what your answer is.
I used to use Butches but now days I use Boretech Eliminator.
Some times I use Seafoam and JB with mobile one.

I second the Eliminator. Works better on carbon and copper than those cleaners you mentioned, and it is "green friendly". That means it smells soapy rather than ammonia like.

Definitely Butch for regular cleaning with patches and a quality bronze brush, and Iosso on a nylon brush every 50/60 rounds or after every match in front of the chamber to remove the carbon. If you use a bore scope you will see why you need it, read the cleaning section of Tony's book, very instructive.

Carlos;

Good to see your name on here. Sorry to say I cannot be at the SS this year. Several reasons including my Airedale Terrior is failing and I will not leave her for that long a time. Bad enough when she isn't...........
If I can squeek out another year, I will bring the HEINEKINS to the next one.
Shoot well my friend.

Joe

Sorry to hear that you aren't coming this year and surely miss you, our dinners, and...the Heinekens at the end of the day,(I love that) but hopefully we will be able to be there next year in good shape.
Take care my friend

Hoppes for me

There are many solvents to choose from. Most products work well. Each shooter has their preferences. Mine is Hoppes for routine clening and sweets for stubborn copper. It seems to be able to clean as well as any of the other solvents. My local supplier always has it in stock.

I havent had all that much luck with Butches. I dont think its very good on copper. I have started using pro shot #4 and it seems to Get-R-Dune!! Lee

I start off with using Bore Tech carbon cleaner and then use Patch Out. Patch out seems to work on a couple of my barrels. I have another barrel that favors Butch's. Best suggestion, use what works for you and don't be afraid of testing several.

I've been using the KG line of cleaners. KG1 is very tough on carbon and I've never seen anything quite like KG12 for copper.

I have used Patch Out/Wipe-Out since it 1st came out and I LUV IT . I just wanted something to clean between groups and the Bore Tec Eliminator seems to be doing the job

Thanx,
Jim
