Thought on this scope for a beginner factory BR rifle? I have decided against the Weaver T-36.

I am concerned about the 1/4 click and the Multi-X reticle vs a FCH. Would these things be a big hinderance? Thanks in advance.

The 4200 8-32 has 1/8 " clicks, as far as the crosshair you need to take a look at it and decide for yourself. With that being said most benchrest shooters prefer a small dot.

Bushnell Says 1/4"

I just checked the website and Bushnell says the 4200 8-32 is 1/4" clicks.

I don't know what to say about that except that the one I have is 1/8 th inch clicks.

I suspect that the website is wrong because I have a 6-24 4200 and a 8-32 4200 and they are both 1/8th clicks. All I can say is when, and if, you should decide that is the scope you want ask whoever you order it from what it has for click value.

Mine is 1/8 clicks also.

I doubt a factory rifle will be able to tell much difference between the scopes you have listed. That being said, if in time you decide to jump in with both feet and get a BR gun, you WILL be upgrading the Bushnell to a real BR scope. While the Weaver ain't at the top of the heap in BR scopes, it is a suitable scope. A Duplex style reticle on any scope would be a huge hindrance on a BR rifle.

I have a Bushnell Elite 4200 8-32x40mm which has 1/8" clicks. I sent it back to Bushnell to have the Multi-X changed to Mil-dot. The dots fit inside a 22 cal. hole at 100 yards.

It cost $55.00 and they sent another sun shade back with it so do not send the shade that came with it. They tell you not to send it then they suprise you with another one. They tell you it will take 6 weeks, but received it delivered to my home 10 days after Bushnell received it. Good public relations.

Great service and a great scope.

I got mine from The Optic Zone. Great people and it was about $100 less than any other place I checked.

"Aim small miss small", :D

Thanks

I ended up speaking to someone at Bruno's who was very helpful and patient. I ordered the Weaver T-36 (even though I was leary about the service).

Right now, all I want to do is shoot some local informal matches a couple of times a year and start reloading, so I think I am set for now.

I have two Bushnell's and I'm very satisfied with them especially the 3200 Elite 10X target/tactical.

I thank you gentlemen for all of the help and hope you have a great weekend.

My favorite non-Benchrest scope is the Bushnell Elite 4200 8-32. I've tried almost everything out there and the Elite 8-32 is still my favorite. However, it doesn't work for Benchrest (the sport) as the cross hairs are way too thick. On the flip side, I have four Weaver T-36 scopes on BR rifles. They aren't the clearest glass at the match, and I often joke that looking down my scope is like looking through a glass of milk. However they work well. Be sure and keep your original sales receipt as you will need it for service if anything goes wrong.

I was at my last 600 yard match of last season and the guy next to me was using a 4200 8-32 and was calling my shots for me with it. I found it hard to believe that he could see my 6.5mm bullet holes on paper with that scope and I wasnt seeing them with the NF I was using. I took a look and sure enough I could see them also.

Im not saying the 4200 is even in the same league as a NF but I am saying I could see the holes with his and not mine. ;)

I went home and bought one that night and like it so far but I have'nt shot it that much yet. For the money I would say its pretty hard to beat.
