Burris black 8-32 fine duplex

I have a Black Diamond 8x32 Fine-Plex on a .308 Savage that I have used for 1K F-Class. I found it to be a good clear scope, my only complaint was it doesn't have that much elevation adjustment, a 25 MOA EGW base fixed that.

I recently purchased another Black Diamond 6x24x50 Fine Plex, that has more windage and elevation adjustment, and is also fine for 1K shooting.

Burris Black Diamond

I have two that I use on a regular basis on my 1K guns. The first one has the paralex adjustment at the bell and has never given me a problem. The newest has the side focus and I just sent it back to them for repair as the side focus moves out of adkustment on every shot. I think the optics are excellent and they have plenty of MOA for me, but then I'm shooting a little faster bullet. The side focus issue is one that they have got to fix as this is not the first one that I have seen have to go back for this repair.

oneflyer,

Does the side focus on your Black Diamond have dull (not audible but felt) clicks? Im curious as the one I purchased a month ago does. Wondering if this is a recent change or if additional pieces are moving inside and the adjustment knob stays the same. At 1100 mine is one click from max adjustment/infinity, at 600 three clicks.

Thanks,
Shummy

My side focus has no clicks at all. Maybe that's the problem. It is at max adjustment for clarity at 1000 yards.

My Burris Black Diamond 8x32 also had a problem with the side focus knob. It came off in my hand one day at the range working up loads. It started to feel mushy just before that.

I emailed Burris, and was instructed to return it, no RMA needed. I did so, and even asked for another cross bolt for a Signature ring (dont' ask...). A few weeks later, it showed up at the house - all fixed, a couple new bolts in the box, and a nice new Scope Coat cover to boot. No charge. Definitely no clicks can be felt after this repair, nor before.

I really like the scope, and have it on a starter F-Class Open rig for my wife. I had been using it on a long range 223AI varmit rifle, and find it to be clear, and repeatable. I do concurr with the limited range of elevation and windage adjustment observations, however.

Great customer service, and zero hassles. I'll be back at Burris's door again...

Cheers,

Chris
