Bullet Samples

Has anyone ever bought from Bullet Samples out of OK? They allow you to buy certain bullets in small number for reload testing purposes.

Either way, do you know of any other small portion purchase options (20 or less) for testing? Or what do others do to try various bullets without significant waste?

Not to be a doom-sayer but I don't think (20) bullets is enough to get a good picture of how the rifle is going to shoot the bullet with a few powders. I'd buy a couple of hundred minimum. Consider that a load work-up is going to amount to at least (2) powders at several charge weights and a few seating depths and at least (10) rounds of each. I really don't believe you can get the true picture of what the bullet is capable of by shooting (20) rounds of one load.

I think

this would only work for a hunting rifle. We find a load for them fairly quick and know if the bullet is performing at good hunting accuracy. For bench rest it takes many more loads to determine which bullet performs best. Even if you find a one hole load quickly, it takes an agg. or two or three to determine if your gun prefers a Cheek over a Fowler for example.

I think the minimun number for testing benchrest bullets would probley be 200-250, when I started thats what I ordered from Fowler and Uber, both shot very well, when customer service @Fowler went south I switched to Ubers( no customer service problems ). Bill Scheider who lives local (Beaufort SC) bought the Fowler Equipment & dies and is now selling bullets under the name Scheider Accuracy 1-843-522-3651, I tested his bullets last week in 2 different 223's, 3 different 30BR's and a 6ppc, all shot really good, call him or Allie Uber 1-802-948-2621 or Brady Knight 1-334-227-4567
