Hi everyone an thanks inadvance for responding to a newbie.Im just starting to get into the long range shooting an have some questions about what you all think about my idea about this.I have a weatherby mark 5 in 30-378 mag with a shepherd scope on it for right now that i use for hunting, but im wanting to make it in to a rifle that i can use still for hunting an long range shooting 600-1000 yard probley more 600 than 1000 there isnt a 1000 yard range any wheres near me .

These are a few ideas that i have for it as of right now.Im thinking about starting of with a mcmillan A5 stock with the saddle cheeck peace,an the shim style adjustable but plate. For the barrel im looking at a 30" hart 1000 yard bench rest taper with a 1-10 twist an have them do the complete fitting to the stock an the action an have the trigger done to 2 pounds.Next is the hard choice for me. The scope.Im thinking either night force 8-32x56 nxs or a leupold mark 4 8-25x50. Idont realy know what to do. An the final one is what bullets 200 or 220 match kings or is there something better out there.

Well thanks for the help an look foward to talking to yahs

NF is hard to beat.

Unless you plan on shooting 240 SMK's go with an 11 twist. Less torque and a little less pressure. A 12 twist will work for 210's and under.
Speaking of bullets, 200's, 208's , 210's, 220's and 240's. The target will telll you what it likes.
