I'm thinking about buying a rifle from Bud's Gun Shop in Lexington, Ky. Has anyone done business with them? Pro's or con's? Thanks for the info in advance.

I have bought over the Internet from them. 9mm. Had a favorite gun shop, paid the man very well to be the FFL for the deal. They shipped, he inspected, declared the gun in good shape, and away I went. Basically, they acted like his wholesaler -- but a whole lot cheaper than the one he normally uses! They made money, the gun shop made money, and I got a stainless for much cheaper than what local shops were asking for blued version.

They appear to be a reasonable business. Now if you have problems, I have no idea what happens, which is why I asked the gun shop FFL to carefully look over the gun before we transferred to me. I knew nothing about the type I was purchasing and he, for a living, evaluates firearms one right after another!

Two thumbs up for Buds. I've bought 4 guns through them. Price shown includes shipping (Insurance is extra). If you can find lower prices anywhere (On the internet) please let me know.

Cheers,

Buds Gun Shop

I know several people who have purchased from them with good results. Most guns were NIB though.

Bought 2 guns from them. Excellent both times.

Their search engine is really nice as well.

Buds

I've bought one rifle, a new 300 Win Mag Rem 700 DM, from them though a gunbroker auction. Read their instructions carefully, do it their way exactly, and the transaction will go smoothly. Their operation is mostly automated and their staff is small. One thing I really liked is that Bud's keeps a large list of "cooperative" FFLs in other states in their database so shipping to a local FFL is simplified if that FFL is on Bud's list. Some FFLs however are not very happy to transfer a new rifle that they have for sale in their shop.

If you know what you want and they have it in stock (or in the distributors warehouse) you'll get it quickly and at a good price. It's not a good place to call to chit-chat.

I recommend Bud's if they are advertising what you want and their terms work for you.
They had the best price on the new Remington I could find.

Bought a couple from them. One, a new Ruger, came in with a 20 inch barrel instead of a 23. Seems they posted the wrong photo and literature. Called them up and they agreed to refund me $100 which was fair. Thumbs up to them.

However, found a new local dealer and he can find much better prices through his wholesalers.
