we will be having a ir5o/50 unlimited match at buckcreek. you can check the schedule on the ir50/50 site for dates and times. it will be a 3 card match and fees will be $15.00 per shooter.

there will be hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks free to the shooters. the rules will be followed to the letter. you will remove the bolts from your rifle and not install it in the recever until word is given or incase of a shooter using a semi-auto you will be given a chamber flag to use. if a shooter doesn't remove the bolt from the rifle you will told to remove your rifle and equipment from the bench, becuase you will be done for the day.

we want to invite everybody from kentucky and the nation to come shoot with us. there will be a a.r.a. match before every ir50/50 match. if it catches on and grows i will talk to the range owner about doing it on a different day than the a.r.a. matches next year. i did it this way this year to see just how many will show up and to give people the chance to shoot in 2 sanctioned matches.

You might look at the rules again. I don't think you can have the rifles on the bench when people are down range, even if the bolt is out.

i think your right, but none the less bolts will be removed until the match/round starts. no excuses!! safety will be number one at this match for all shooters.

time will tell. i just want everybody to get a fair shake. i don't want anybody leaving feeling they didn't have as much of a chance to win as the guy next to them. i also want it to be safe and fun as it can be for everybody who shows up.

i'll be shooting in he a.r.a. matches, but i will not shoot in the ir50/50 matches. i'll run them and try to make it as fair for everybody as i can. the main reason i will not shoot is i will be scoring the cards. i feel it is in best interest for he scorer not to score his own card. that way it leaves no feeling that the scorer could score his in his own favore over other shooters.

nobody,
Go ahead and shoot and get someone else to score your targets, thats what we all do. I never score my own targets, and don't know of any MD's that do. Not that they can't be trusted, it just removes the doubt if the guy don't score his own targets. Besides, IR5050 rules allow any shooter to protest his or anyone elses target that he feels is scored incorrectly. The rules make it as fair as it can be, if you go by them.

kent,
we'll be going by the rules. i want it to be something that helps grow our wonderful fun sport. i might shoot in a match or 2, but this time i want to focus on running the match propperly and seeing to it everybody has a good time.

nobody,
Please understand I was not inferring that you would not be going by the rules. The rules are as fair as you can make it.
I was just saying that there is nothing wrong with you shooting and having another shooter score your targets. If you disagree with any of the scores you have the option of protesting it, and getting the referrees to vote on it and settle it that way. Between 3 referrees they usually get it right.
I've run IR5050 matches for years. My advice is to pick you 3 refs and an alternate give them the rule book, and let them handle whatever comes up from there on. You might want to remind them that if they protest someone's elses target or their own, they need to step out on judging that target and let the alternate stand in in their place. Sometimes that is forgotten, and most folks don't actually know the rules!!!.
If I'm a ref and I protest your target, I sure shouldn't be standing in as ref while that target is being judged.
It's a fine system, if it's done like it's supposed to be done.
Best of luck to you! I hope it goes well and you have a fine turnout.

thank you kent. i hope it goes over well enough and everybody has a great time. that is the main goal of me doing this.
