Buck Creek results for today

First, I want to thank everyone that shot with us at Buck Creek this year. Overall, shooter turnout was up from previous years, and I really appreciate that. We only had 10 shooters today due to opening day of deer hunting. There was frost on the pumpkin to get things started, followed by high blue skies, followed by some of the worst mirage we have delt with in a looooog time, as the scores indicate. I think Keith Sharp took a pic. of the winners, maybe he will post it later. Again, thanks to everyone that made this year a big success.

Good shooting to Mike, Jerry, Brud, Rick,Moses, John and all the other competitors in Kentucky this weekend. I wish we would have had those conditions in NC.
Good luck with the new UBR shoot in Nov.
Hello to Jackie and all the Kentucky gang. Does anyone have a phone # or email address for Jerry Nettles.

Thanks Ronnie, but be careful what ya wish for:rolleyes:. The mirage was terrible at 200 and there were several that either dropped points or had near misses at 100 in what looked to be very shootable conditions early on:confused:. At 200, I dropped 2 pts with 1 shot when I missed a little switch and it caught me holding into the 8 ring ,and of course it went there:eek:. It was fun, and thanks to Jackie for putting on such good matches again this year. Look forward to seeing you next year and good luck the rest of this one!

Thanks to all

I took a picture with John B's phone, since he was in the picture. John, can you post the picture?

A big thanks to Jackie for running the matches and providing a place to shoot. Also thanks to John, the hot dog chef, and everyone who helped with running the line, and setting and scoring targets. And thanks to all who helped me learn the sport this year, my first full season of BR shooting. It is apparent from this match that I still have lots to learn about mirage.:( Hope you all survive the winter (if we actually have one this year, considering how warm it has been this fall:)), and look forward to seeing you again in the spring.

Cheers,
Keith

Keith said he was already having withdrawal symptoms just knowing that was the last match of the year. I wonder how many guys are ready for a break? And how many would like to shoot year around? For me, it will be a long winter waiting for the first match to roll around. See you guys next year.

Hey Jackie

When I lived in Michigan we had an informal score shoot at WWCCA throughout the winter, sometimes it was well attended on other times just a few of us diehards showed up, but we had fun. I'm sure Lee Hachigian will be posting pictures and results this winter from WWCCA. I plan on shooting once a month this winter at Riverbend if they will have me. Like Keith said I was having withdrawals last winter and looking forward to the first shoot, although I did go to Dublin, GA and shot the Shamrock and I plan on that again next year.

I usually wonder what I am doing getting up so early to make the long drive to Buck Creek, but once I am there, I have a great time and sometimes I learn something, not always about shooting. Like hearing about making maple syrup, and that hickory trees also make good syrup. Priceless. After the match, win or lose, I am ready to do it all over again the next day. Of course, the multi-day matches will have to wait until I retire. My goal for the winter is to build some flags and hopefully a new gun.

Cheers,
Keith
