Gentlemen,I have a terrible time with the search function on this forum so please indulge me with this question. I have been involved in dispersing my good friends gunsmith shop since he died in Dec. (See"Funerals Suck" posting on centerfire benchrest.) This involved tracking down customers to return completed or basket projects, selling his equipment, and everything else you can think of.
One of the last pieces of buiseness is a Browning .270 sporter gun. Ted had the stock about half done when he started to get sick. It never got finished. As he got sicker and sicker the blueing stuff got sold too. We were able to farm out the blueing to a young guy who just got out of Gunsmithing school and his work is ok. He is currently in a five year tool and die makers apprenticeship program and is not looking for stock work. I have to get this thing done one way or another. The gun is a regular sportster and part way finished with Brownell's Gun Saver as the customer wanted to duplicate factory original. The owner used this gun hard and will be doing so again when he gets it back and does not expect miracles. Just an everyday refinishing job.I can probally do the finishing and sanding part but the checkering has me stumped. I also don't have the time to learn. This is all I know about it. Not looking for bargains. The charity part comes in when a body conceeds to do someone elses half done project. ANY OR ALL SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT TO DO ARE WELCOME! For the record, Ted was a damn good general gunsmith and GOOD GUY. He would have done the thing for someone in my shoes. My e-mail is tmt5729@comcast .net
Thanks
