I know the 6xc can be formed from .22/250 brass, if needed, but can the 6.5x47? I know there was point a short while back where you couldn't find Lapua brass - if this were a problem again, could you substitute 22/250? If so, How much work would it entail?

6.5x47 Lapua Brass

Dingus,

I tried to use 22-250 to make some "dummy" cartridges to set the seating depths for various bullets. I did not want to sacrifice any of the expensive Lapua cases for these dummy rounds. Because of the shape of the case, the shoulder and case wall was not supported well during the sizing process and I ended up with some seriously deformed cases with the shoulders collapsed. Would they have been usable for my purpose? Maybe. I never tried to chamber and fire them. It may have worked. I ultimately use .260 Rem cases, and of course had to trim the neck after I pushed the shoulder back. These worked for the dummy's.

Been there done that...........

Wanted to see if I could get my 6X47 to perform better with the large primers. Used both Norma and Tubbs 6XC brass. Fireformed well no problems. Didn't help.
