Yesterday, July 13, was what one might call a preview of the 2019 UBR Nationals as they will be held September 13 & 14th at the Boyle County Fish & Game Club, Junction City KY. It was my first visit to the range and I was impressed. As I understand it the range was rebuilt a couple of years ago and the planning and execution of the plan was excellent. There are twenty benches. The range faces west is is a gentle uphill slope. It isn't much wider than the shed with tall trees on both sides and the far end. As with most narrow ranges the wind tends to swirl, but doesn't look like it would be strong very often as it is protected from every direction except east.
The match was well run and went smoothly. I don't recall any target errors that required changing. I think we finished up around 2:30. Dan Blair (TxDan) came all the way from Texas to win Custom Class with a 512 and Frankie Crum won his first yardage with a 200 yard win in Unlimited. Congrats Frankie!! I'm sure this will be the first of many. Ten of the seventeen rifles scored 500 or better and the competition was tight.
Nxet Saturday there will be two matches in our region, Red Brush, Newburgh IN and Buck Creek, near Somerset KY. Come shoot with us!
