Bounty on Hogs

ABSOLUTLEY NOT. Black bears and feral pigs live side by side in the Smokey Mountain National Park and the DOA has been hunting them with DOA employees and infared for years. The DOA worker I know says when you see a hot spot and get danger close and its bears instead of pigs, you gotta run like hell.

My granddad told the story as how he was catching and breaking wild horses in the Horse Heaven country of Eastern WA for Sam Hill and he watched a feral Poland China boar eviscerate a bear. Bear went for the hog and 3 times it bored in under the bruin and backed out dragging tushes. The pig walked away with it's back tore up but the bear walked out of it's own gutpile, didn't make it 50ft.

I have hunted the local feral hogs many times with a pit bull or cur dog and a pocket knife, cause around here armed trespassing is a felony. Our hogs are not even close to what they have in some areas of the Smokies. Early pioneers let Russian bores lose thinking they would be tough enough to live in the mountains with the bears, still there. Even our hogs live along side of local black bears.
