Boltface for 6AI

check any reloading manual...

it will confirm what has been said.....most modern manuals have a wealth of info in them about many more things than just load data....Roger

The .308 boltface works... but in all exactness the 6mm Rem started life as a 7mmx57 mauser... so it is that boltface.

In my world a bolt face that accepts a .473" size case head is referred to as a .308 bolt face.

Joel,

.473 is .473... but in terms of rim thickness there is a difference, matters for shellholders as well, can use one for the other, but not the other for one. That's where the 7x57 base differs from the .308. we are really splitting hairs unless you try to use a 6mm rem shellholder for .308.

In my world, a .473 boltface is an '06 boltface.

You do have to watch the thin extractor groove. I have some RWS 7x57 brass acquired to make 6 Ackley cases, but the grove is so thin my BAT extractor hits the front of the groove. Solvable, but you do need to check if you start from 7x57 European brass.
