I never quite know how to handle news like I received today, and I went back and forth on posting this information here, but I thought that anything positive may help Bob in his toughest battle. I spoke with his daughter who informed me he has an advanced form of melanoma and may not see the start of next season.
For any of you who know Bob he doesn't believe in the internet and so this post is mostly informational (he won't be reading this though rest assured that any posts will be passed on to him to bolster his spirits), but I know that he would appreciate the knowledge that the benchrest community was behind him while he faces the next few months...can't believe that it has to be in those terms "months".
He has supported our matches as well as many other matches in CT unfailingly and always had a grin and a wise remark to pass on to make the day that much better...a shot out in the nine ring elicited an "Oh Goodie Goodie" and would always bring a chuckle to competitors in the vicinity (read: 5 benches to either side).
Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Mike Suhie
