Boat tail bullets. I hope this isnt a stupid question!

I have a little BAT SV ppc that i bought from Lester Bruno last winter. This little rifle i have shoots really really well, with Lester's FB Bruno double o bullets. I ran out of this magic bullets, and i thought i was ordering more, but i ended up with his BT bullets same double o's just in a Boat Tail. I dont have any experience with boat tail bullets in a ppc except for last weekend when i shot a few of George Ulrich BT bullets out of a practice ppc rifle i have. They shot extremely well out of that rifle i might add!! Anyway i am going to give these bruno BT Double o bullets a try in my Bruno rifle. I was just wondering if there is anything to know, or keep in mind when shooting BT bullets as opposed to FB bullets? With the Ulrich bt bullets i had to jump them about 30thou. Is this true with most BT bullets? What about powder charges? My Bruno rifle likes 28.8gr of 08 n133 with the Bruno FB bullets, do you think that is ok as well for the BT bullets? I have around 270 rounds on that barrel now and i want to keep the round count down so i can shoot this barrel at the east west shoot, so i dont want to be playing around to much finding another load. so any info would be great. Also if someone has any Bruno double o's FB bullets to sell i would love to have some. Bruno wont have any more until late winter. Thanks Lee

I've been shooting the oo Bt for about 2 years now and won some stuff with them. I have found that they shoot the best for me with jump and mid-range loads. Somewhere between .010" off and .020" off is where most of my barrels have liked them.

No matter where in the world I've been, when I tune them in on practice day, I have set up the chronograph and seen what speed the best load was doing and it has always been between 3250 and 3300 with those bullets. Any more speed and they have been unhappy.

Last summer at Raton, Lester asked me what I was doing to make them shoot and he wasn't surprised to hear my answer. Apparantly he shoots them very similarly.

Unfortunately, when I attended the Cactus this year, Jason Bruno told me he was through making bullets and wasn't sure what they were going to do. I have subsequently began a new search for a comparable BT bullet.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate the info very much!! I just bought a few hundred from him last week. You may want to call him and see. I just opened an email from Amy Bruno and she said they didnt have any bullets and havent had for some time. That's kinda strange because i did buy these early last week, so who knows?? Anyway i am going to load up about 4 sets of 4 shots and head to the range and see what they do.
On a side note, i did shoot a few George ulrich BT bullets in a take off barrel i bought from Ron Horne and they shot the smallest group i have ever shot in my life. I only has a few so i couldnt attempt to repeat the group. What little bit i have seen from them was promising and i order 500 of them. I think George made them last night. I will pick them up when i go back down to St Louis. Might try them, or when i get mine i would be more than happy to send you 50 and you can try them out. that way it wont cost you anything if they dont shoot for you. Thanks again! Lee

one more thing, I dont have a chrono as mine took a crap in a rain storm. About what charge weight = 3250? Im guessing 28.3-28.5?? Lee

I might just take you up on that offer as I'm on the hunt for bullets again.:(

Depending on temp of course, 28.2-28.6 should put you right in there. Good luck!

When you are jumping them BT bullets do you use a little more neck tension than you would with a FB bullet set in the lands? My chamber is a .262 my loaded round is .260 and i am using a .259 bushing for the FB bullets. I just wonder if i should use something like a .257 bushing for these BT Bruno bullets? Thanks lee

I run a .258 with them and N133 or XBR. I have the same dimensions as you.
