Black Hills Sierra Match King in a Savage 300WSM

I've never heard of Black Hills ammo until I stumbled across it at MidwayUSA.

I have a Savage Model 12FVSS chambered in 300WSM. It's completely stock, and it shoots Federal Premium 180 gr Accubond ammo the most accurately. It's always under 1" at 100 yards. The price of that ammo keeps climbing, and no one stocks it locally. I'm looking for another load that will shoot as well or better. A local range is holding monthly 300 yard matches.

I know that I need to reload to get the best performance, but for now, I can't do that.

Has anyone shot the Black Hills Sierra Match King in a Savage rifle? Trial and error will get mighty expensive, so I'm trying to avoid that.

Thanks for any help.

black hills ammo

I have not used it in a 300 WSM but I have used their 308's and 300 Winchester mag with very positve results.

I load my own but have 2 hunting buddy's that use ammo from Superior Ammunition in Sturgis, South Dakota (1-800-677-8737 or 1-605-347-9192), it shoots as close to custom as I've ever seen. Both these guys have custom rifles but neither reload and they shoot little small cloverleaf groups @ 200 yards. The way they explained it to me, Superior will send you a sample pack with 5-6 different 5 shot loads to determine what your rifle likes, then after a range trip just tell them what works and they ship it to you ready to go. The price list I saw was only slightly higher than a local small custom gun stores was for factory ammo, and Superior use's all the big name bullets,Barnes, Speer, Sierra,Hornady, Nosler,Swift,Woodliegh, Hawk, and others too!!!

That is very interesting. And a smart idea on their part.
